The UPS guy arrived right on time - ten am straight up!  And there's this HUGE box, like 18"x12"x3".
Now I promised the darling mathematucian I wouldn't open the box without him..... ....
Nope, didn't work.  But David kept me honest.  Inside was ANOTHER HUGE BOX.  Well, I couldn't stop there, now, could I?  So I didn't. 
Inside THAT was a mailing envelope.  I couldn't help myself.  I HAD to open that one, too.    But that's as far as I went.  Until lunch. AFTER lunch. 

I handed my DH the open envelope and he pulled out a little box.  It wasn't a DBL box or anthing fancy, just something to protect the ring during her journey home.  He pulled her out of her little plasic bag, and just looked at her, turning her one way and then another.   Put on his glasses and continued looking and not saying anything.    I finally gave up and asked him if it looked ok.  He just smiled, nodded his head, and said 'It's more beautiful now than it ever was'.  He put it on my left hand ring finger, hugged me, and  said ' Mom would love it'.

And she is beautiful, and unbelievably sparkly, even under the desk  , and fits safely on either hand - although she fits better on the right hand ring finger, where she'll live eventually.  And now I'm going to lie down for a bit and regain my equilibrium.   

Not doing too well with the camera, especially left handed; but here are a couple of hand shots.  This ring is really WIDE.  and SPARKLY.   

I'm having a very difficult time believing that these three stones only total to .5 ctw; and when David says Sam Spade Specials, they ARE special.  The stones look so white, I keep being shocked by the overall appearance.  These babies are screamers, so I'm not sure if it's the color(G) or the fire, but they just blow me away.  Totally eye clean now that they're set, David has estimated them to be SI1s.  I never thought I'd see the day when a white diamond less that a VVS2 would make me happy; but these rounds are flat gorgeous.  So I'm awfully glad I left the choice of stone entirely up to you, D.  Talk about bang for the buck! You da bomb!

Shown here as my temp wedding band, we will use Mum's ring in the ceremony.  I won't need to use an eternity band to keep this one on safely as I was afraid I might.  The little balls in the back do the trick, and at 9 mm wide, it won't slip anywhere easily.

I'm in awe, David, and ecstatic with both the work and the diamonds.  I know Mum's ring isn't a 'killer' style, but you've made her into a stunning piece I will enjoy wearing just 'because'.  It's very comfortable on either hand, as well, even though it is so very wide.    And I will treasure her all the more for how happy you've made my darling mathematucian with the quality of your restoration.

I didn't mention the re-florentining of the band or polishing the white gold strip, and should have; because all those different textures together are what make the ring POP!  And it wasn't something I asked D to do, just part of the refurbishing the the tech thought necessary.  They really are sticklers for detail at the factory, arent' they?

Sheesh, D!    I think the shoe's on the other foot. 

My lucky day was stumbling on DBL, and sticking around to play in the forum.  I've met so many great people, yourself included, that have enriched my daily life - made me laugh, made me think, made me cry, made me feel welcome and among friends.  And now, finally, I benefit from your skill and acumen. as does my darling mathematucian.  You made one of his heart's wishes come true, and did it with singular beauty.  Thank you, David, truly.

It looks wonderful and nothing beats that kind of heirloom attachment to a piece of jewelry!  Wear it in good health and congrats!  I am soooo excited to lil' blooo all dressed up!

Thank you, all.  I am so pleased with how this ring turned out, and how much my DH loves it! 

My white lion is Stitch.  He's about 10 years old and the favorite chew toy of the Queen of Everything, aka 'the runt'; probably because he's a real  Mama's boy and Adamma is a very jealous cat.  You might remember his littermate and twin, Lilo, who liked diamond collars. 

We call it 'the stink eye' in our house.  DH swears I taught it to him.

I'm happy to be back from the trip to Texas, and so happy to have my Sexie Rexie with us again.  He's already adjusted to the group.  I was afraid that after 10 months, they wouldn't remember him or vice versa; but they adjusted in less than 3 days.  Oh, you could never bore me with cat tales; but let's start a new thread in the Chit Chat  area, or continue on in the pet thread.

I have some news from D about Li'l Blooo's.  The metal work is done!    Lookie!!

This truly is a fairy princess ring.  I am just beside myself with excitement.
