Yup, the radiants all work together best, no question. It's personal preference, but I'm not so crazy about radiants with step cut sides. (The exception that proves the rule for me is OMC's wife's engagement ring, which is beautiful and I'd love to see more pictures...).

Having said that, I really do like what the ECs are doing to the colour of Li'l Blooo. I would check with David that the radiants aren't draining any colour in real life, because she looks marginally more blue next to the ECs on my monitor. Could be a trick of the light, could be my imagination.

Those are really pretty little ECs, btw.

I'm still loving the tinted radiants with Li'l Bloo because they bring out the most blue to my eye.  Having said that, I'm wondering what yellow gold will do to the color of Li'l Bloo?  You might get the same effect just from the yellow gold setting regardless of the color of the side stones.   dontknow  May we see Miss Bloo with the yellow band to see how that affects her color?

I love the ECs and the radiants.  Not crazy about the asscher or the traps.  Will the yellow gold in your MILs band take away from lil bloo's color?  That would be my only concern.

What about two pairs of the side stones. In other words, the blue and then four of the side stones. i think the blue would need to be a bit higher. Just a thought. I love the traps, too. And I like it sideways with the asschers.

i like this one with a pair of asschers after the emeralds...yummy!

That would certainly extend the real estate in a lovely way.  DropGob  I'm imagination challenged with visuals, and it could be just the ticket, Sanchica; or the number of different cuts might distract from BLOOO.   dontknow

Right now, mum's ring is with the designer.  I hope to see some initial thought from the design team maybe within a week or so.  We've rather revamped the initial specs from replacing the 3 stones on the band to creating a 2 ring wedding set.    evil5  So a 5 stone ring might not be out of the picture.

INFORMATION OVERLOAD!!!!!!!  I am one of those people who likes to see every possible combination ever in the whole world...I am not going to be much help at this point because I like too many of these combos....I am a little partial to the emerald cuts though.  E-W would look awesome.

Couldn't we rhodium plate mom's ring and then pave the sucker with all whites as well?

It does not matter what it is...if it sits still long enough I will want to pave it.  HA!

A vote from me for tinted traps, more subtle and brings out the blue.
I would keep the proportions more in keeping with a 3 stone ring rather than side accents.
Hopefully this would create balance but appreciate the setting is emotionally unique.
Best wishes in the deliberations.

Thanks for:  My2cents, Rumple.  Haven't seen you in a while, and glad to have you join back in.  The original setting was a three stone, so we were shooting for that at first; but now - it's free range, baby!  I just have to watch the overall cost, although, I'm hoping  DH and David spoke about ceilings with that regard! scared

I haven't seen her in person. I won't be in NY until the summer.

But I love the radiant combo and the traps. It's so cute. I just can't believe you are getting a blue. What a special treasure.

What a fun project!  So many possibilities Smiley

My vote would still be the radiants or EC-super white, make it a 5 stone ring, set in Plat with a RG halo(around the outside of all 5 stones) and fancy pink melee---yum!

Can't wait to see this one finished!!!

I had a technical glitch, just at the wrong time!
ARGHH

Anyway, finally got the sketch uploaded- as you can see above.
The idea is similar to one that our would be feline already suggested.
A triple micro pave deal.
Take the center BLOOO ( the nerve of her to merely call it "blue diamond")- set it in platinum prongs. Surround that with Pink diamonds- micro-set in pink gold.
Outboard of that, we can place a set of half moon diamonds- themselves surrounded by micro-pave. The half moons get the colorless melee.

The shank would be a graceful affair- a Winston style shank was discussed.

Qat, I think you've absolutely made the right call here.  Replacing the diamonds in the original ring with white rounds and then really going for broke with the design of the BLOO, getting exactly what you want, is exactly the right way to go, IMO.

Finally

David - is this gonna go well with mum's band?  I'm having some trouble imagining it together.  Tell me this platinum and pink gold delicate beauty is going to sit comfortably side by side with Mum's yellow florentined and white gold band.  xyxnervous  It's a gorgeous design. I'm dyin' to show it to my DH.   But put together with mum's ring, well frankly I'm afraid it's gonna look like a Ferrari with fenders by FORD.  scared

PLEASE - tell me I'm crazy.  I'll belive you.  Honest! tard

I can't post any pictures!  The options don't let me bring in a link anymore! I wanted to post Mum's setting next to the design so we could all take a look.  freakout  Bawling Bawling Bawling

Do you have to wear the rings on the same finger?  Could you wear the wedding band on one hand and the BLOOO on the other?

I think this might be the best solution.  These two rings are at opposite ends of the ring design continuum.
