My last ring.  I havenīt enough fingers at the moment for even one more but I thought I would show you my moghul.  No, not as big as the Duchess of
Windsorīs but it is cute and the rubies round it make it look - well - Indian.

Very pretty, Joia!  I'm putting in a handshot request if you get the time.  Smiley  It's hard for me to judge the scale.

When I can borrow a nice hand Annie you will get the shot.
The nicest hand  belongs to my youngest daughter..... then again I could use a model hand but NOT mine.

Thanks everyone, I will borrow someoneīs hand this week and you will see it is not very big but I like it.  I forgot to say that the actual emerald is very old but the setting dates from the 1930īs when these emeralds became fashionable.
It is lovely to be back.

Nice to see you back! Love your ring, what a beautiful setting and I don't think I've seen a carved emerald before. I must get some emeralds for Amelia, they are her birthstone.

Of course.  Lucky Amelia, I love emeralds.   (A few diamonds with them gives them that extra oomph, of course).

Man, do I have to do everything around here?

I don't think I've ever seen a carved emerald either. Very cool. I like the violet-like appearance of the rubies--I always thought that red rubies and emeralds look like Christmas but this one doesn't at all. I actually like the opposite side of the color wheel contrast.

Hi djm, nice to hear from you.   I think these carved emeralds were carved in India, Muslim because they have flower motives.   People in the thirties started to buy the old jewellery and then had the emeralds set in what to them was a more modern way.  Even the Duchess of Windsorīs engagement ring was a carved emerald,  Moghul, or Mughal as  it is sometimes written.
I wouldnīt be surprised if this emerald is about 300 years old and heaven knows what it started life set in.
They usually used emeralds that were not top quality gems, the best were too good to carve about I suppose.
(I think the rubies are a bit dirty, that is the problem with upgrading a camera, you can see everything, dust and all. LOL).

Thanks for your generosity, Joia. I should have started my own thread.

Thanks, David.

Carol, OMC, the pearls are tahitians and I was wearing six necklaces in the photo. Needless to say, they were a bit heavy Smiley
