One thing I admit I like about David's photographs is that they seem real to me. I do photography as a hobby and while some of my equipment is old (or broken... sniff on my macro lens) I still appreciate a photograph that looks real and like it is showing how something really looks.
I hang out on the other place and my only issue is that if anyone says they prefer to use their eyes for some purchases you are considered nuts. The focus on ideal cut rounds is kind of annoying to me as I don't really like round cuts (except for my earrings). I like different colors and shapes so many times I have to use eyes to decide. I think that's why they like to pick on DBL. I think they truly believe that if you don't have all the numbers you are trying to hide something. They are trying to compare tactics for buying an AGS0 round with all others. Even with that, they probably thumb their noses at me because I didn't want an excellent cut diamond in my earrings because I didn't like how they looked. H&A are so not my thing at all.
Now I haven't bought anything from DBL yet, but I am pretty sure when it comes time for me to get my dream ring I will be sending my DH this way. I have bought a lot online from ebay and have trusted similar styles of photography to show me what I am buying. So far so good because I trust my eyes.
I admit to having spent countless hours looking at all the gems and rings trying to decide what is my style. I think I am close to getting it, and have saved links to rings and stones that I think I like. Some day I will hand it over to my DH and say "pick like this" and see what he gets. Though with our expenses coming up I doubt it will be anytime soon

When I first found this site I thought I was in love with intense yellow diamonds. Now I have realized I have a love for softer. When I thought I loved a pricess it turns out I really like a squarish radiant. And while I love asschers, unless in a halo I have decided I prefer them as accent stones or something more suble like a pendant.
I gotta say I love this place and I wish that some day I could see some of these items in person. For now I rely on the pictures and I definitely appreciate the photos and videos out there.
So there's a ramble from a relative newbie here who has looked around a lot lately learning as much as she could
