One of my very favorite diamonds, perhaps my ALL TIME FAVORITE diamond in the WORLD, resides at the Smithsonian in Washington DC. It is the near-flawless 67+ct yellowish brown Victoria-Transvaal Diamond. The Victoria-Transvall is part of killer gold and diamond necklace designed by Baumgold Brothers. Take a look (Victoria appears a little more orangy in my photo than she actually is IRL):

With that in mind, when I first saw DBL R2974 – 4.09 Fancy Deep Brownish Yellow VS1 Pear – my heart skipped a beat. Albeit it IS a TAD smaller than the Victoria-Transvaal (at 12.56 x 8.17 x 5.52mm this is ANYTHING but SMALL).  Roll Eyes I think that R2974 could definitely pass as Victoria's Little Sister. Here:

Oh yummy yummy! I really like yellows with brown modifiers better than pure yellows!  Especially when they look like this!

Nice. Both of them. And R2974 seems to have excellent crystal too.

Hey, D!! Just like the Big K's, I'm fishing for a Big Gold stone (as usual, I can't make-up my mind... but I HAVE narrowed the choices down a bit...). Is there a hand shot of this gorgeous stone? Are there any more 3-ish ct "golden" stones in cushion or radiant shapes? (Pear is not my first choice, however, that will not stop me if the diamond is right, hehe). Thank you.  Kiss

Remarkable, isn't it? That's ok, I have a short list of already-mades for consideration if nothing happens around here...

Problem is, David recently he SOLD my top two picks, so I have to start the painful picking process all over again.  1087

However, it HAS been an interesting process because I'm learning that expense has nothing to do with desire – at least this time around. In other words, there are pieces at various price points toward which I feel the SAME amount of excitement. Maybe I'm growing-up a bit. (nah...!)  Wink

I considered the radiant. I just wish it were a tad larger to make a 3-stone a la SOLD R2852 (K w/yellows). Also, is the feather visible? Honestly, a cushion shape would be my first pick.

Did you see the email that I sent earlier? It should explain... sort of...  Roll Eyes

Also, if I'm chasing a loose stone, then crystal and cut are extremely important... I'm actually quite flexible about color. Unfortunately, you've ruined me because I've seen some of DBL's best...

Sounds beautiful. However, I am worried this will be too similar in size/set-up (not color) to my R2620.  dontknow I'll go look at measurements.

I loved R2852!  Also, R1378, which is one of my all-time favorites.  Are you thinking of using all cushions to recreate the K color of the center and yellow side stones for a three stone ring?

K radiant R2852, K cushion R1378, FY cushion R1173, FVY cushion R1298, LY radiant R2076 and beautiful radiants R1252 and R560 are all my VERY favorites and all SOLD. If I'd had the funds available, I would have purchased ALL of these, each for slightly different reasons. The center stone in R1252 was particularly unforgettable. I loved the size and wonderful feel of R2852 on my hand, the center stone and elegance of R1378, and the proportion, sweet beauty and sparkle of R1173 (my DH's favorite), I could go on.

Yes, I'm considering creating something with a K/L center and yellow sides, or a yellow or golden center with colorless sides. Or, perhaps I'll go with something already built...  dontknow

Sure is fun to think about it!

This is a stone that would not be classified as a cushion today
