This is such an amazing stone.
Before I saw the GIA report, I would have sworn they'd call it an Old Mine Cut

Oh, did I mention it's BLUE!
Fancy Gray-Blue, to be exact, but the color, in person, is mesmerizing.

Basically the facets on the bottom are much shorter than traditional modern brilliant cuts- giving it a very "chunky" look...and sorry about the little hair that it displays- it needs a haircut...hehehe

$?....it will list for a lot less than a quarter of a million.

I am dreaming for a littlish colored RB 1/2 or up, that I can actually afford.  Guess this wasn't it.  Boo hoo.

What an exquisite diamond.
I'd have guessed old mine or old European cut, certainly not RB. It has a real old world feel to it. I LOVE it!

How about the world's longest layaway plan? If I don't finish paying it in my lifetime, Amelia will carry on making payments to Leo... Grin

Oh. My. God.

I'm in heaven!!!!

While I am not really a fan of the modern round brilliant for myself, I absolutely adore older (looking) cuts.  And a gray-blue?  That's my ideal color for blues.  *sigh*

I could sell my house...........

Nice stone. I think an OMC would have a non-round, more cushion-like shape, though, wouldn't it? (purely rhetorical question, since GIA clearly thinks it's NOT an OMC - shame, it would be good to have a nice looking relative, for a change)

I'm a lover of old mine cut. At the "Museo degli Argenti", Palazzo Pitti in Florence, there is a collection of antique Venetian jewelry, fantastic cut diamonds that range from XVI to XIX.

Beautiful metallic color of this DBL. It reminds me of ancient and famous diamonds, typical color of blue diamonds found in India, in Golconda mine.

That's what I've been told.  I have two technically transition cut diamonds and it is interesting to hear how a jeweler classifies the older stones.  I have one from 1925 that is round and I swore was an OEC, but I was told it doesn't fit the mold of that either.  There are apparently some specific criteria one has to meet to get a classification like that.  So if the cutter stepped outside the "box" for whatever reason it won't be classified as such even though by other methods (age, location of cutting etcs) one would classify it that way.  That was probably a confusing rambling, but it made sense in my brain LOL

And it is official, I am selling my house.  I don't need a home Wink

I love that setting for this stone, Saqsay. Nice combination of colours.

If it was mine, I'd be tempted to replicate the setting that the Hope diamond is in. Just for fun! It's not often you see a bloooo this size! Ok, it isn't as big, but I think that setting would make people think "oooooh a blue diamond!" as soon as they saw it. It would be a little tongue in cheek, but I like pieces that make me smile after they've made me go OOooooooohhh!!! Wink

LOL! I really, really think this should be set to replicate a famous jewel. It would be stunning in its own right, and also quirky and a bit of an 'in joke' for people in the know! I love this idea (though I say it myself, it's good. Grin)
