Fabulous. Need to see Miss Cushy Purply Pink on in your hand (next to the snow shovel) please.

BTW, I believe the shot of sunshine was a sign from Above that I should have the big pink radiant. Can't think of any other reason why that would happen...  angel

Seriously, sorry about the blizzard. I spoke with my 80-year-old Dad earlier today and he was outside with his snow blower.   1237387oyy519k20r

I need to call again and check on him...

I am curious. D, how does the color compare to the FL pinkish purple R1342? The purples and pinks are flipped, however, the two stones seem VERY similar in color... And, after seeing it IRL, I can say that R1342 is STUNNING.

No need to duck, shiba!

Perhaps there is an issue of weight and proportion that is creating conflict for your eye... ? To explain what I mean: size generally indicates a certain weightiness to an object. So, sometimes when I see a large "weighty" gem, with a fine, delicate border, it seems like the gem is about to "bust out" from its frame. It is like looking at a large painting with a tiny, thin frame... the frame is not enough to hold your eye "inside" the painting. It all has to do with proportion and visual weightiness. I think that may be what is going on here.

To that end, this may not have been my choice for such a stone either. Regardless, I think the mounting is exquisite, and certainly, it does not distract. Really, I'd be over-the-moon to walk out the door with this puppy... as is!

Now that I think about it... I remember trying on a similarly sized and shaped diamond ring with a similarly styled setting last time when I was at DBL. I LOVED it on my hand, and if it had been DBL quality and David had kept it to sell – it was not and he did not –  I would have begged, borrowed and stole for it.  Because of the setting style, and my perceived preference for other settings, I would not have given the ring a second thought if I'd just seen it in photos. Hummm... makes me think here...

Although David's photos are very good in terms of reflecting what your eye sees, these uber close-up online photos still can distort the eye's perception somewhat. Hard to know what the overall impression actually may be until this one is seen IRL. (I may have to break down, make the sacrifice, and travel to NYC to see this in person  Roll Eyes ).

I hope, when the time comes, that my DH buries the proceeds from the sale of my house (as he said he would), deep, DEEP, in the ground. For, I'll surely be looking for a way to snitch some funds in order to snag a BIG PINK diamond.  Evil

David,
On the purple pink diamond, if you were to mount it with a halo, would it be better to surround it with yellow diamonds or pink diamonds to bring out the purple pink color?

Love that stone!

I'd go white all the way to bring out the color of the center stone . . . maybe a Princess Di style setting?

Mikla,
I forgot what the Princess Style setting looked like.  Could you please describe it for me.  I remember everyone wanting one after she got engaged.

Thanks,
Sheryl

Something a la Miss Tropicana . . . and this purple stone is a cushion with beautifully rounded corners so I think the effect would be really grand.  Honestly, with this unique color and a DBL-quality setting, it would be a once-in-a-lifetime ring.  Swoon!

Thank you both very much!  So, do you think DBL would take 2 children in as part of the trade-in?  If I didn't have to pay their college tuition, I would have this purple pink cushion ring!  I paid for my college,  they should pay for theirs.  Right?   pear2

Geez, I wish it worked that way!  We've got 5 kids (twins who are 20, then 18, 17, and 16-year olds).  I can't imagine how we're going pay for everyone's college, but you do what you have to do.  Can we say scholarships, anyone?   Grin

Send them to a community college for the first 2 years - that helps keep the cost down.  Unfortunately, mine insisted on a private University and both want to get their Master's degrees.  I was able to get 2 merit scholarships for each of them - one from my work and one from the University - so that really helps.  Good luck!
