Okay everyone, here are the rules for Trills of Fortune. Even though it seems like there are a ton of rules it is actually just a simple game of hangman. What DJ and I learned from Survivor is that we have to be detailed in our explanations ... so here it is: Anyone interested please post on this thread. We want everyone to participate!!!!
TRILLS OF FORTUNE
Game ObjectiveVirtual money is made by “spinning the wheel”, and correctly picking consonants appearing in the puzzle. Money is given for correctly picking the consonants and for solving the puzzle. The ultimate goal is to bank as much virtual money as possible allowing the contestant to "virtually" buy DBL items. The person with the most virtual purchases (in dollar value) by the end of the game wins the contest.
How to PlayThe contestants will be randomly listed in the order of play. This “listing” will occur before the contest begins and announced before the first game. The first two members on the list will play each other in the first game.
The hosts reserve the right to add periods of enrollment for those forum members, especially newbies, who wish to play once the game is in progress. Players will continue playing until they are defeated. Each player will keep the total virtual amount won during each round regardless of winning or losing the game. At the end of each game, the player who wins will be asked to take their virtual money, go to DBL website and virtually “buy” inventory from DBL’s database with their winnings. Each player must post the items they “purchased” and post on the thread the total amount spent. Players can choose whatever item they want regardless if the item has been purchased by someone else. If the player wins multiple games, they must update their total and repost the new winnings. A player can only win a
MAXIMUM of three consecutive wins. The person who amasses the largest amount (in dollars) at the end of the contest is the winner.
Spinning the WheelAt the beginning of each round, the hosts will randomly place 2 Bankruptcy and 1 Lose-a-Turn tag next to the 21 numbers. These will be hidden from the contestants. When the game starts the first contestant will “spin the wheel”. This is done by selecting a number first then a consonant. If a number that is selected has the bankruptcy attached, the player will lose their virtual pot and lose a turn. A player can lose their turn by 1) choosing a letter that is not in the puzzle. 2) selecting the bankruptcy or lose-a-turn tag -or- 3) guessing an incorrect puzzle solution.
Each correct consonant is worth $200. If the same consonant is appears more than once in the puzzle, the player will receive $200 for every time it is used.
Buying a VowelIf a player has enough virtual money, they can purchase a vowel for $200. A vowel costs $200 whether it occurs once, multiple times, or not at all. A player may pick multiple vowels if they can pay for them.
Solving the PuzzleWhen a player is able to solve the puzzle they must post that they are ready to solve it. The hosts will grant permission before the contestant posts the answer. If the puzzle is successfully solved the winner will receive a bonus of $1000.00 for solving the puzzle in addition to the money for choosing the correct consonants.
RoundsEach game will have two rounds and a bonus round. In the bonus round, after being presented with a puzzle and category, the players will be asked to select a number. Both these numbers will be linked secretly to a dollar amount. These amounts will be added together and will be the total value for solving the puzzle. Once this amount is established, any occurrences of the letters R, S, T, L, and E are revealed in the puzzle. Each contestant can then add 1 more letter at the same time. Once these are revealed, the person who solves the puzzle first wins the virtual pot for the bonus round. The players can post as many guesses as they wish. The member with the largest virtual pot at the end of three rounds wins the game and will compete against the next person on the Trills of Fortune list.
Who goes first?Once the list is completed, the first two members on the list will play against each other. Afterwards, the winner will play against the next person on the list (for a maximum of 3 consecutive wins). Each member will pick a number between 1 and 10. The person who selects the closest to the correct number goes first. If there is a returning champ, the new player always goes first.
This is going to be a lot of fun!!!!
