Sorry to be so long in reply guys, been dealing with lots of things in life that have had me, uh... busy...

I'm moving out of the country in January, so I've been bogged down with all the preparation.

I'm still dating the same girl, and still waiting for her to be ready to get engaged, so I just haven't done much with either buying a new stone, or selling this one.

I tried to get Appraisals, and got wildly varying numbers, so coming up with what I want to get from the stone will be nigh impossible... so maybe I'll try Ebay, and let the buyers tell me what it's worth. Any thoughts?

I'd have to say that trying to use eBay to figure out what the diamond is worth is an utterly useless exercise.
There's just so much flotsam and jetsam- bogus ads, sellers purportedly offering valuable diamonds for $1 ( while having shill identities to protect these bogus auctions) and eBay is concerned about one thing- generating fees. That means there's little or no interest at all from eBay in cleaning this stuff up.
it also means that you can't glean a lot of usefull info about prices of a pink diamond there.....unless you look at our store......

Actually- I'm sure you want a straight answer.... so I'll give you one......
What you think the stone is worth is really meaningless.

Anyone who's traded in a car knows what I'm talking about.
You took great care of your car, did not drive all that many miles- heck, it's worth a lot!

Then you drive onto a dealers lot. He pulls out a little book.
All the great care you took of your car- ain't really worth squatt!
Your 1983 Yugo is still only worth whatever the little book says- even if you did vacuum it twice a week!!

Seriously- I understand your frustration- but the way you are trying to get answers is unlikely to produce useful results.
You could start with the offer made by the schmuck appraiser who tried to buy it.

If you are going to try and sell privately, you'll get a higher price that you would selling to a dealer- but you'll also have a lot more work selling it.....

Remember too- it's highly unlikely you'll be able to sell the diamond for the price an established dealer might be able to.
A diamond ( or a used car) is worth far less in the hands of a private individual as opposed to an established dealer.

Good suggestion GL....but the stone has been to GIA- the problem is that the GIA report is not an appraisal and is not all that useful in determing the value of a diamond- especially a fancy colored diamond.

I can't believe that fate has brought us together and you are going to let some "girlfriend" stand in our way of happiness with a fancy brownish pink engagement ring.
