oh, David!

I know you don't like anything other than a GIA report, but what if you found a pretty little hail BLOOOO  hail stone, weighing in at .4ct, called a 'Natural Fancy Light Turquoise' on an IGI report.  Would you run like hell, or poke at it, given the price is @8k?  Is this one of those 'too good to be true' items?

I wonder b'cause I've seen this other site touted on one of your other favorite forums to visit. Grin
And, it does appear to have a 30 day money back - full refund guarantee.  They will send the stone out to GIA, on request, altho I think that would be during the buying process and at the buyer's expense.

There's no other forum remotely like this one sultan

It's not the report I don't like, it's the reasoning behind using such a report on such a stone.
I don't know if it's .40, or .04. and that's a huge difference.
Email me the link to the item, and I'll be glad to have a look.

geni Yes, Master, you are absolutely correct.  There's no place like home!   animal-smiley-037

It's a .40 ct stone, and thank you very much.  I'd rather find one from you, but this seems like a loss leader, so it might be one to jump on, if  I can wrestle the funds out of the DH.  BangHead

Since there's been no vendor mentioned let's talk hypothetically:
If such a stone was "Fancy Light blue" by GIA standards, it's worth about $60,000. I love Turquoise' , but it's not a GIA color grade, but the picture looks pretty blue- althogh it's not all that descriptive by itself.. Anyway, why sell for $8k when it's worth almost eight times that just by sending it to GIA?
Hypothetically, any seller involved in the sale of fancy colored diamonds knows this, and hypothetically they know the reason why the stone has an IGI report- and an half report at that- no mention at all of clarity.
It might be a fracture filled diamond...
All this hypothetical....

If anyone requested a natural blue we would be able show them Natural Blue stones in the ranges of any other site on the web.
We hesitate to stock .15ct $16,000 diamonds, but maybe we should carry at least a few....
I'll tell you what- we'll round up a few small blues to show you!

You're just a big sweetie, David.  Don't waste your time.  We'll get there when the DH finally decides to move forward on his Mom's ring.  Thanks for looking into it, for me.  I would have kicked myself for not trying; but you made my life real simple.  I never considered it might be badly fractured, and you sure coldn't tell from a pretty picture like that. I say if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Not sure if you are still interested in this stone, but if you are it's definitely worth sending for a GIA report, even if it's at your expense. They have the best reputation in the industry for a reason and I wouldn't buy a stone that didn't come GIA certified. Good luck!
