Here's a really cool comparison shot
What a difference in the shade of brown!
Do you guys remember these?

After a month of going back and forth in my mind, I took the bull by the horns and made the cutter see reality.
He had no idea what these were worth, so he was asking a price that would have them sell for about $8300 each. The possibility of buying aone or the other was not offered- they were only available as a pair. More accurately- if I wanted only one, it would have had a DbL sell price over $9k

We will offer them for an average of $5250 each.
The question I'm posing:
Are they worth the same amount to each other?
Maybe one should be $5500, and the other $5000.
Here's a closer look:
Candidate 1

ITEM #: R3240
Cushion Cut Diamond, Loose

  WEIGHT: 1.53ct
  SHAPE: Cushion Cut
  COLOR: Dark Yellowish-Brown
  CLARITY: VS2

  GIA REPORT #: 1747709

Candidate A

ITEM #: R3241
Cushion Cut Diamond, Loose

  WEIGHT: 1.53ct
  SHAPE: Cushion Cut
  COLOR: Fancy Brown-Yellow
  CLARITY: VS1
  MEASUREMENTS: 7.40 x 5.91 x 4.17 mm
  TOTAL DEPTH: 70.6%
  TABLE SIZE: 58%
  POLISH: G
  SYMMETRY: G
  FLUORESCENCE: NONE
  GIA REPORT #: 16760931

I couldn't say which would sell for more, but I'm loving the darker stone. Do you have it for sale?

Hard to say.  Without knowing the value of different colours, I would say the one with VG cut would have an edge to G cut.  For me, it would be personal preference.  I think the one I like should cost less.   Evil

They are both available.
A such, I'll give away my opinion:
The VG VG is worth a little more.
Also the color is more dramatic.

Therefore we put a price of $5500 on the VS2 VG/VG deeper colored one,
and $4995 on the slightly lighter colored VS1 G/G

D, IRL, how does the color of the lighter FBY cushion compare FBY Asscher beauty R2980 (taking into account they are completely different cuts)?

I would expect the darker to be more expensive, but honestly I am more drawn to the lighter one.  The darker one in that one reminds me of burnt sugar when carmalizing so mentally it is a negative for me, though it is a beautiful stone.  The video really showed how lovely the darker shines though.

That's a great question t!

I thikmn it's a case of the cut making a HUGE difference in some ways.

They are approximately the same color.
The ability of the Asscher to pull his off with so many less facets easily doubles the value per carat.

Thanks, D. BTW, I wasn't asking about the color as it relates to the pricing... Because I have seen the Asscher in person (stunning, stunning, stunning), I know that its color is particularly difficult to capture on film. Trying to get a better fix on the cushion diamond, with a similar GIA color grading to the Asscher, I thought that using the Asscher for reference in terms of color might help me. Hence the question. Make sense?

From what I can tell, they seem remarkably similar in color, just very different in terms of the overall look because of the cutting...
