Does anyone recognise the stone/photo in the other images?

I have just reported the listing as "copying from another eBay user" for the photo of R2996 (main image + another one, distorted)

I'm confused, OMC.  What possible good would it do this seller to post a picture of one of DBL's rings?  they couldn't produce the goods if/when it sold.

I don't know either, but it is still theft.

Actually, I do know: you know how much David insists that "the photo and videos are of the precise item you will get"? This gives the buyer some comfort and safety. These guys are trying to imply the same thing, and at the end of the day DBL items are excellent quality, so they may help the unwary to fall into the trap.

I was looking at some of the listings and I am pretty sure that the "inspired by a designer" type rings they have are just swiped from Verragio too.  I wonder if any of their photos are of things of their own.   Stealing and bad business all around.

Especially since what they are offering to sell isn't even the same as what is pictured.

Just wrong!

Man, do I have to do everything around here?

Good eye GiaGirl.

I reported this to ebay as well.

Whenever stuff like this happens I try to tell myself that imitation is the best form of flattery. But...you know what? I'm never able to shake the feeling that IT REALLY SUCKS!

It wouldn't hurt if everyone reading this files a complaint.

I feel sorry for anyone who purchases from this seller.  They're just buying a whole lot of aggravation when the piece comes in and it doesn't look anything like what they thought they bought.  It just goes to show you that there are scammers everywhere willing to do anything to part you from your money.  I like how they added this statement into the listing:  We DO NOT allow 'in person' pick-ups.  Well, no kidding, you're not a jeweler.  You're just falsely advertising the goods as yours and you're trying to tell me you can sell me this ring for half of DBL's price?  Uh, I don't think so.   angry5

Well - just to complete the fleabay panorama this week, after the worst eBay ad ever, this wonderful act of homage to DBL, I am proud to announce I have just been stung purchasing an antique watch chain advertised as platinum that has turned up to be silver. Only problem is - it was priced as platinum...

Another arse whopping (I think) needed.

Thank you so much GIAGirl- and everyone!

This moron does need a good ass whipping!

I've made the report to eBay- and will be calling Mr Slimesucking thief to ask some questions about that pretty ring they have for sale- and I'll tape the call.

David, have you considered watermarking your photos with DBL or Diamonds by Lauren?  I know it would detract some from the pictures, but it really is appalling that people would try and represent your work as theirs.

To the seller's credit, I sent them an email yesterday night, to which they replied promptly saying - "No problem, if you aren't happy, return it and I'll give you a full refund." Still, I'd rather have people describing things correctly in the first place...

This is my "platinum" vendor.  Evil

On the other hand, you made me realise I haven't really answered Alison.

You can't complain to the vendor, except through messages which are not public. You can however report the ad to eBay, and they should do something about it. Even that is not visible, though, at least until the vendor changes something in the ad.

The only publicly visible means of complaining is feedback on completed transactions, and there is some sense in that: imagine if people could review and slag or praise publicly without actually having purchased anything: how could you trust that the feedback you read is honest consumer feedback rather than a cheap attack from competitors or equally cheap advertising?

I'm sorry to hear about your disappointing "platinum" purchase, OMC. Hopefully, the vendor will make it right for you. Still, I know it is both a disappointment AND an inconvenience.  Flowers2

you shouldn't have a problem getting your money back through paypal OMC. just be sure to return the item via registered mail. I have had to do it a couple of times myself. the bad part is the return postage.
