Hi David  hello

I was scrolling thru the DBL site and a occurred to me that you've got beautiful halos and semi-mounts in yellow, white and rose gold, and diamond melees in pink or white; but there don't appear to be yellow diamond melees.  Am I just missing something, or are they not a popular item?  I would think they would look extraordinary surrounding a high white center, or am I way off base?  (I have to invoke the imagination impaired clause, here)

Interesting point! I'm pretty sure they could be done, because there are earring jackets with yellow melee (WANT, WANT, WANT, along with a pink pair...) Evil

Thanks, Miz M.  I thought I was going crazy.  Being a yellow gold sort of girl, I've been dreaming about taking one of those high white cushions that have come in recently and putting one in an 18k yellow gold HAL2, but with a yellow melee instead of white.  But I'm just dreaming - too many other items on the plate right now.

I knew I liked you, AD.   Wink  I'm a yellow gold kind of girl myself, and I think a yellow halo would be fantastic!

I got this ring about two years ago, and I wear it all the time.  I love the little yellow diamonds.

I remember how excited you were to get that ring, Annie (and how envious I was!) Wink

That's gorgeous, Annie!  I want one!

Maybe it's just a specialty item - not mainstream enough to put on the site, but doable, if one wanted it.  I thought it would be a real kick to do a DBL reverse halo.  DBL has so many beautiful yellow stones surrounded in high white diamond halos, but no high white centers surrounded by  yellows.  I would think they'd be more expensive than the white, more like the pinks?

... hmmmm as to that I wonder if it's possible to get BIGGER yellow RBCs and do a princess setting  in yellow....after all the Why 2K hasn't been reset yet, so that's on the list down the road a bit.  It isn't a high white, tho, so would a yellow surround make it look more white or more yellow?

I think it's very possible to do a setting using larger rounds, but proportions are a funny thing. Some metal space around a halo is needed to make it work, in my opinion - the straighter that metal line is (and thus the smaller the stones), the better the effect. Enlarge the rounds too much, and you get gaps as well, seeing distinct stones rather than the impression of fluid "sparkle" going around the ring.

On the colour: I think if you set the Ynot2K in a WG or platinum basket and use FIY in YG for the melee, you'll get a LOT of contrast, making the marquise seem much whiter.

One halo with yellow melee coming right up!! ( sold)

Good points by omc about using larger round stones- you will have more visible metal- which might be desirable for some - but it does look a bit different.

david  Can you get nice looking brown diamond melee?  I can't recall ever seeing it before.  If so, say someone wanted to do a rose gold stacking ring with brown diamonds, do you think it would be possible?

Second question, well I guess maybe it's a third...  Do you remember about three years ago you had a parcel of little diamonds in a whole variety of colors?  You took some fun pictures of them in little piles on your desk...

I have seen this before it was shipped (which shipment is a story unto itself, by the way) - it's an incredibly well made piece. I'm not sure I'm too keen on the yellow halo with yellow centre, especially when both the halo and the centre are so incredibly intensely yellow, but the centre stone is lovely and the outline of the ring is really nice.

Soooo pretty!  Are those brownish yellows?  What size on average?  They look really lovely!

I saw a band a few years ago with brown melee in a oxidized (black) gold.  Super cool look!

I'm glad you remember because I started to think I might have been going crazy!  I must have looked though hundreds of photos last night looking for the ones I was thinking of.

This is the only one I found, but I swear there were more/better ones!

I did find this pretty pile of yellows...

There were also some other cool things I had just plain forgot about.  Anyone remember the pink harp?

Oh, and how about this shot of the Tropicana (flanked by two very lovely friends):

I'm pretty sure I remember the tray, but I didn't come across it when I was on my quest last night.   Grin  I might spend another few minutes looking this morning.  It's not like I'm crazy or anything. Tongue

Forgive me if this was asked and answered on another thread, but what would this setting cost, if offered in the DBL semi-mount store for stones of approximately this same size?  I just love, love, love it!  I can imagine a pinkish/purplish or bluish/greenish stone set like this . . . it would be TDF!
