Hi I'm new to this area but I love fancy color diamonds. I'm thinking about buying a pink or a green one, some one showed me a 1.02 carat fancy intense purplish pink with I3 clarity. I'm little concerned about the clarity because it's very low. Since we have many experts here, what would be the market price for the stone? Many thanks!

It's really impossible to say without seeing the stone. Fancy Intense - like every other grade - is a range going from Fancy to Fancy Vivid (and Fancy Deep); a stone closer to Vivid will be worth a lot more than a stone closer to Fancy.

At the very least - do you know which lab graded it? A GIA FIP will trade for several tens of thousands/carat, unless the inclusions make it almost unrecognisable as a diamond.

HI all!
zanzuihouer- did you see this diamond in person?

I would also share oldmaycoyote's curiosity about a GIA report.
Was it loose?

Lastly- what was the seller4 asking for the stone?

I do have seen the GIA report for that stone and the stone itself. The color is very sweet, that's the main reason I'm still considering it.  But the stone has lots of cavity and feather, I'm afraid it would break down at certain point, so would the price be worth 50K per carat?

If you 'd like my honest opinion...no.

Was the GIA report for color only, or did GIA grade the clarity I3?

Thanks for  answering, and I really appreciate your honest opinion as well:-) The stone has a full GIA report and thus the clarity is listed as I3. So back to my original question, how much I should pay for this stone?

The truth is, there's absolutely no way for me to answer that without seeing the diamond

You can use these for reference: We sold a .85ct Fancy Brownish Purple Pink I2 for about $8000 a number of years ago.
THis grade is worth a lot less than Fancy Intense Purplish PInk- but it was a very good color, and no durability issues.

Here's a Fancy Intense Pink on the site for $20k

Here we have a color equal in value to the one you're looking at- with a clarity of SI2- which makes it exponentially more valuable. Between 2-5 times as much

With a diamond graded I3 by GIA there are some potential durability issues- this makes it even tougher.
But in general, anyone that tries to put a  specific value on something like this sight unseen, has no idea what they are doing.

I will say that the initial asking price suggests extremely unrealistic expectations on the part of the seller.

This one was an I2 from several years ago.

It's on this page of pink diamond rings.

I rather like this page of current stock http://rockdiamond.c...s/pink-diamond-rings

I think that baguettes in fancy pink are a pretty rare item. I'd love to see it, too though.
