I have a beautiful brown diamond, OEC a little bigger than 2 carats.

Lately I've noticed in natural light it looks (more like turns) green..   so I did a little research and found it might be a chameleon..   it has strong FL as well.

What are some other clues or tests I can try without sending it out?

Oh cool. It sure sounds like it could be a chameleon but I'll have to leave that to the expert, David. I'll flag this post so he sees it.

That looks really cool, I guess the only way to know for sure is to send it to the GIA.

HI,
Nice looking stone!

Based on the color shown in the photo we can say for sure it's not a chameleon.
It's not uncommon for a brown to have greenish undertones- but I've never seen or heard of a chameleon that was as pure brown as that photo shows.

Nice stone!

Could the Strong blue Fl have anything to do with it?  yellow undertone in the brown + blue showing green?

I have brown that glows a little green in some light. Also, shiba, I was thinking the same thing... the color of the fluorescence could have an impact, especially if it is strong fluorescence.

decodiamond, your diamond is beautiful. Such a gorgeous, delicate color. Does it show lots of fire?

Stunning stone - I like its color though.

I think you should take it to the laboratory for testing, because the lab. report would gives you precise information about the specification of color.

It is a beautiful ring.   I would listen to  David´s expert opinion about the brown. Whether it is a chameleon or not it is a beautiful ring to have, you are very lucky.  Of course I am an art-deco fanatic so I am very envious, it is a very nice size diamond too and the brown is lovely.    green

I agree that this stone is surely worthy of getting a GIA report.

Also- I really would need to see it in person to see if my assessment of the brown is correct.....

could it be a champagne diamond? or is that just a fancy way of saying brown?

Fancy way of saying brown. Great marketing tool though; monikers like "champagne" and "cognac" added caché and desirability to some of the world's least expensive (and to me, most beautiful) diamond hues. Just like "canary" for yellows...
