I am so indecisive lately.  Since I have a bit of fun money saved up, help me decide what to do.  My holy grail is a stone 2ct+ light yellow U-Z or white G/H.

Assuming you can spend 5-6K, what is your choice?

A band like this with larger stones G/H

or a stone (no setting) like this 2.01ct M

Or wait and save a bit longer towards the HG.

How about this one?

R2445

It's a bit over your budget, but you can probably save a bit by getting a simple YG solitaire setting (or a simple pendant setting) and upgrade it later

hey OMC, thats my tradeup........... so i can vouch for it's sparklyness. 2.09 y-z matchbook radiant. it's an I1, but it's hard to spot the feather unless you know where to look in person.

I would buy a stone to tide you over - one you can trade up (and up) over time to get the one your heart desires.

The one posted above is gorgeous, it could go in a simple solitaire setting or even a pendant for now, then be an upgrade candidate next time you've saved up some fun money.

I'd go for the yellow diamond, either one and get the yellow gold lucida setting. I'd have to wear it. Then you have something to enjoy and use for trade up later.

I say go for something NOW (haven't decided which one of your choices yet... I'll get back to you). However, my DH, who is infinitely more wise and patient than I, would tell you not to waste your time on the small stuff and to save for the BIG one.

He's probably right. If you go for something now, the BIG DREAM PIECE is still out there, haunting you. And, after purchasing the less expensive, stop-gap piece, you must start all over again with the savings plan for the big kahuna. However, if you WAIT, you're well on your way to the dream piece already. It will be much easier to pick-up something less expensive later (and you may find that the big dream piece has snuffed your desire for the smaller piece anyway).

One final thought... NO BAND AIDS! Purchase something, whether it be now or later, because you LOVE it and simply have to have it. Not because you have to have SOMETHING.  Grin I've often found that when I can't make-up my mind (and money is not the issue) it means that the "right" piece or gem is not in front of me. YOU WILL know when a gem or jewel is "calling" you.  hypnodisk

(Ponderings for your something NOW choices: 1) The anniversary band is a beautiful, timeless classic that can be worn anytime and anywhere. Can't go wrong with that. If you are comfortable with diamonds all around the band, you may want to consider inserting a metal section in the band for sizing. Another thought regarding the band is that it is relatively easy to make one at any time. The stones involved are not necessarily unique or difficult to find. 2) On the other hand, a single diamond, set or unset, if it captures your heart, may be more difficult to replace if you pass it by...)  dontknow

The thing with the 2.01 M is that I don't think it is yellow (or white) enough and it doesn't make me have to have it.  Yah know, huming and hawing trying to convince myself to buy it.  Saying, only if it were _____ then it would be perfect.

The band is a super deal and I don't know if I could get another for the price.  It is a local estate item, which means trusting that C, C & C are accurate, and taking it to another place for verification.  And I am a sucker (or is that a fool?) for a deal.  It would not satisfy my HG but I fear missing the opportunity.

That radiant is nice!  I wonder why it never caught my eye?  One of the pictures make the right side look "fuzzy".  The feather looks like it is just below 3 o'clock though.

And then there is this pear, again hesitating because of colour, but I really like the stone.  Plus I am not fond of the setting.

I think I need to make a trip to NY.

Whatever you go with, can I suggest that it comes with an upgrade policy?
Get a DBL something, so you can trade up and get the size, colour and clarity you'll love forever.

Trinkette is right in every word she says, but to those sage words I would like to add the rider that stepping stones (pardon the pun) are ok too. They may not be your ideal end-point / dream stone, but if you love them along the way, that's fine!

Thanks everyone!  The trade up is something to remember.  Sometimes I focus on getting The Perfect One and miss looking at other possibilities.

I love that cushion you like. It has a ton of sparkle. The warm glow is actually very appealing to me because it has that antique look. It's a fabulous cut and sublime shape.
